2019 Beetle Burn Festival

 The Burning Beetle is a community celebration that focuses on our connection to the environment where we live in the Black Hills. This project supports the arts in our community and the development of an art installation to commemorate the changes going on in our forest.

Join Custer for a community Talent Show, Beetle Burn, Fireworks and Pub Crawl featuring Live Music at our many restaurants and bars. It's a fantastic winter event, so come on out and join us!

 The National Park Service will waive all entrance fees on five days next year. The five entrance fee-free days for 2019 will be:

Monday, January 21 – Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Saturday, April 20 – First Day of National Park Week
Sunday, August 25 – NPS Anniversary
Saturday, September 28 – National Public Lands Day
Monday, November 11 – Veterans Day

Sylvan Lake

 Sylvan Lake is probably the most recognizable of the five Custer State Park lakes, and a favorite of almost anyone who has seen it. There's a swimming beach and boat rentals where visitors can rent paddle boats, canoes or other watercraft rentals. Fishing is allowed with a valid South Dakota fishing license.
